In Bar Harbor, as it is in many communities nationwide, housing is a big issue. The cost and availability of housing have real impacts on many prospective and current residents and families.
Residents have identified housing as one of the biggest issues facing the Town. Demands on the existing housing stock are placing pressure on several different segments of buyers and renters. For many, housing is a topic that generates images of development, and subsequently, fear of the degradation of natural resource and community character.
However, everyone needs a home, and the Housing Solutions webpage is meant to layout how the Town aims to attract and retain a diversity of year-round residents through a range of housing strategies over the coming decade.
The Housing Strategy webpage summarizes the foundational values and objectives that inform the Town's strategic housing approach.
The Housing Projects webpage includes information about the housing projects within the Town and other housing related efforts lead or in-collaboration with the Town.
The Housing Partners webpage highlights the Town's effort to foster partnerships to incentivize housing development, among other community efforts, to meet the Town's housing needs.
The Housing Resources webpage highlights housing related resources that could benefit current and/or prospective homeowners, renters, and landlords, in addition to the general public.
