Bar Harbor Water Summer Line

Bar Harbor Water operates a summer water line between 392 and 986 State Highway 3. The summer line is operational from May 1 through October 25.  

Seasonal Meters

Customers on the summer line have “seasonal meters”. Seasonal meters are also available for residents and businesses who shut off their water and do not need water meters for at least 3 months out of the year, typically in the winter. 

When a seasonal meter is installed, the customer is charged for a minimum amount of water use based on the meter size. Customers pay additional charges for water use beyond the minimum. When the seasonal meter is removed, it is returned to the Bar Harbor Water Division. The account is marked as “shut off” and the customer will not be billed again for water use until the meter is installed, unless there are water use overages.

We require 24-notice before a person can pick up a seasonal water meter from the Bar Harbor Water Section. For customers on the summer line, they can only pick up meters after the summer line is operational.

Installing and Removing Seasonal Meters

The Water Section can install or remove seasonal meters upon request for a fee. It is the responsibility of the customer to remove the seasonal meter or request us to remove the season meter in the fall. Any meter that freezes or breaks will be replaced with a new meter and paid for by the water customer. Any person that installs a meters backwards will be notified and required to install the meter correctly.
