Workplace Safety

The Maine Department of Labor promotes a healthy, safe and fair workplace, as well as cooperative employee-management relations through consultation services, training resources, worksite inspections and regulatory enforcement. Private sector workplaces fall under the jurisdiction of the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Maine public sector workplaces (state, county and municipal workplaces, including public schools and colleges) are under the Maine Department of Labor/Bureau of Labor Standards.
