2019 Dog Licenses are Now Past Due - Register today!

All 2018 dog licenses expired 12/31/2018 and are now past due.  Only 50% of Bar Harbor's 830 dogs have been registered so far for 2019.  Avoid the State imposed $25 late fee per dog and register today.

You can register your dog(s) one of three ways:
1. Visit the Town Clerk's office with the dog's rabies vaccination certificate, M-F 8:30am-5:00pm
2. Mail a copy of the dog's rabies vaccination certificate and payment to 93 Cottage St, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. Make checks payable to "Town of Bar Harbor".
3. Register online here

License fees: Spayed/Neutered is $6.00, Unaltered is $11.00.

Pursuant to Title 7, §3922 of the Maine Revised Statutes Annotated, any dog 6 months of age or older is required to be licensed.  The State provides a grace period, the month of January, before imposing a late fee of $25.00 per dog (7 MRSA, §3923) in addition to the license fee. Because this is a State mandate, all dog owners who have not licensed their dog(s) by February 1, 2019 in accordance with 7 MRSA §3922, will now be referred to the Bar Harbor Police Department for enforcement, prosecution under 7 MRSA, §3924, that states it is a civil violation for which a forfeiture not to exceed $100.00 may be adjudged.  In addition to the $100.00 fine, the Town/State will collect the dog license fee and late fee.

If you no longer own your dog(s), please call the Town Clerk at 207-288-4098 so we may update our records.

Your prompt attention to this matter is appreciated.
