The Town Council has created a new Economic Development Task Force. The task force will be implementing the economic development strategies found in the comprehensive plan as well as serving as a resource to the public on economic development issues. They are currently reviewing Goal 3 in the Comprehensive Plan as well as working with staff on a coordinated wayfinding signage plan for the town.
Membership The Town Council is seeking members for a new Economic Development Task Force. Membership representing the Route 3 area and Town Hill are still open.

Plans to have the Director of a similar system in Hyannis, Massachusetts come to Bar Harbor to speak of their Business Improvement District are also in the works for 2008. The possible creation of an Economic Development District is a Bar Harbor Town Council Goal.
