Volunteer Firefighters Needed: Is Fire Safety less of a priority than it used to be?https://polco.us/barharborThis week the Town of Bar Harbor is asking questions about Volunteer Firefighting and Fire Safety. 
The Bar Harbor Fire Department has seen a decline in volunteers, currently Bar Harbor has 13 Volunteer Firefighters that respond to calls in Bar Harbor, only 10 of whom live in Bar Harbor. In 1977 there were 55 Volunteer Firefighters.

The number of calls for Emergency Medical Services and Fire Services has increased from 1,462 calls in 2016 to 1,749 calls in 2017.
