The Town of Bar Harbor Planning Department seeks to provide the most efficient and effective customer service and consultation in the areas of planning to the town council, board / committee / commission / task force members, landowners, interested citizens, town officials, and other town departments. In total, the Planning Department provides direct staff support to eight different boards, committees, commissions, and task forces.

Economic Development Plan

The Economic Development Task Force has been working with renown economist and columnist Charles (Chuck) Lawton of Planning Decisions, Inc. to prepare an economic development plan for the Town of Bar Harbor. The task force is releasing an early draft of their work to commence public comment. A simple PowerPoint presentation illustrates the draft as well (Microsoft PowerPoint is needed to view).

The following maps identify the locations of wetlands and potential vernal pools in Bar Harbor as mapped recently by Stantec, Inc in consultation with Kappa Mapping. A wetlands key is included to identify each wetland:
